Get to know:
Melanie Rayment – Judge
Welcome to the Pause Awards show, where we invite past winners and future judges to talk about their journeys, inspirations and lessons learned in their professional careers. And beyond.
In this episode, George Hedon, Founder of Pause Fest and Awards, speaks with Melanie Rayment, Director, Social Innovation Consulting at The Australian Centre for Social Innovation.
Melanie believes in the power of design and multidisciplinary working to create positive change. She seeks to connect people across all levels of society and finds new perspectives to make a positive social impact. She is a strategist, social designer, researcher and human-centred design specialist who focuses on holistic approaches to improving people’s lives now and into the future. And she’s right.
“We are partnering with a community to build capability for them to come together, to lead change, to voice for change and to come together to imagine a new future. What are the changes that they like to see in the community?”
We also spoke about why the Pause Awards program is important to her, and what she’s looking forward to in this year’s entries.
“These awards are important because I think in approaching these complex challenges we all face, I don’t think it’s about the social or commercial sector… It needs us all to come together.”
“It can sometimes feel so big and vast… It’s very important that we stop to pause and reflect on what we have learned and achieved. That’s inherent in all creative practices and businesses that Pause Awards attracts, is that reflection and action. That learning, and really thinking: Where do we need to be next, what have we learned and where should we go.”
